What is general podiatry?

General podiatry includes most conditions affecting the feet.  Painful toenails, calluses and corns can normally be easily treated and prompt professional diagnosis and treatment will not only relieve discomfort, but prevent any foot condition from worsening.

What are the most common foot conditions?

What does an appointment normally involve?

  • Toenails - ingrown, thickened, long or discoloured

  • Calluses - areas of thickened skin caused by abnormal pressure & friction

  • Corns - a ball of hard skin found on toes, in between toes and on the sole of the foot

An appointment in the clinic or at home generally lasts up to 30 minutes and includes taking a medical history, the treatment and any appropriate advice.
