What is podiatry?

The term "Podiatrist" is the modern title for a chiropodist and means an expert qualified to diagnose and treat foot disorders and aspects of the lower limb. This professional title is now protected by law, and can only be used if the Podiatrist is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Who should see a podiatrist?

  • Patients with conditions such as diabetes and poor circulation that put them at risk of foot problems
  • Elderly patients who are house bound
  • Athletes who are prone to injury
  • Patients who require general footcare and advice
